Poker players flock to Las Vegas in December for the Five Diamond Poker Classic at the Bellagio and other events around town. Thus, there is no better time to host a poker seminar to benefit Adopt-a-Pet, a local animal rescue and retirement sanctuary, than during the season of giving. December 11th is the date and Palace Station Hotel & Casino is the place where a donation to a worthy cause not only garners good will but a great deal of helpful poker knowledge as well.

Typically, the price of a poker seminar begins in the thousand dollar range for tips from the top pros in the business. But what if you could get that poker advice from pros who have proven their success rate over many years at a fraction of the cost of other poker academies? That is what David Sklansky and other pros are offering. For only $150, all of which will benefit Adopt-a-Pet, Sklansky will be joined by other invited speakers like Lee Markholt, Mark Gregorich, Vanessa Rousso, Barry Tanenbaum, Roy Winston, and Mark Newhouse to provide poker insight on cash game and tournament poker play.

Poker fans, players, and supporters of animal rescue efforts can pay the $150 entry fee by phone at (702) 635-6703 or in person at the Palace Station, specifically in the Traxx Lounge, on Thursday, December 11th. The seminar begins at 2pm, and early arrival is suggested. Drinks and valuable prizes will be available to all participants.

Adopt-a-Pet began as a group of individuals rescuing dogs scheduled for euthanasia from Clark County, Nevada animal shelters, and it eventually grew into an organization that also rescued cats, ferrets, rabbits, and pond fish. Adopt-a-Pet volunteers take in the abandoned animals, give them any medical attention they may need, and offer them shelter until a permanent home is found with a loving family. Having grown into one of the nation’s top ten pet placement charities, Adopt-a-Pet has rescued and adopted out more than 4,000 dogs, but the number of needy pets is increasing each year.

Sadly, 2008 and 2009 look to be record years for pets needing rescue due to the economic crisis, and that growing number of needy pets requires a larger facility. Public donations are needed to continue the Adopt-a-Pet efforts, expand the current boarding facility, and save the lives of pets across the Clark County area.
