Jonathan Little heads into this week’s WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic with a legitimate shot at back-to-back POY titles.The man they call FieryJustice is headed to the forests of Connecticut this week with even more than a WPT title and millions of dollars on the line.

In fact, WPT Season 6 Player of the Year Jonathan Little will enter this week’s Foxwoods Poker Classic within striking distance of a repeat performance here in Season 7.

Little sits tied for third on the World Poker Tour’s Player of the Year leaderboard, his 1,000 POY points just behind John Phan (1,400) and Kathy Liebert (1,300) with only two events left on the schedule.

Players earn points for finishing in the top seven at WPT events, with seventh taking 200 points and first a cool 1,000.

“I’m well aware of [the standings] and getting a fourth-place or higher will put me in the lead,” Little told PokerListings.com.

The former home of the World Series of Poker will once again host their Annual Binion’s Poker Classic, designed to run in conjunction with the WSOP in Las Vegas. The idea behind Binion’s Poker Classic is to ape the events offered over at the Rio, owned by the WSOP’s new owners, Harrah’s Entertainment, but at a discounted price. Held at Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel, the events will run from May 25 to finish with a two-day No Limit Hold’em main event July 7 and 8; a total of 45 events over as many days.

Once heads-up for poker’s biggest prize, Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidov are now Team PokerStars Pro teammates.The two young men who went heads-up for the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event title this past November are now on the same team.

Danish 2008 WSOP Main Event champ Peter Eastgate and Russian runner-up Ivan Demidov, who also made the final table of the WSOP Europe Main Event in 2008, have joined Team PokerStars Pro.

“It feels great to finally be part of the team,” Demidov, 27, told PokerListings Thursday.

This week PokerStars announced the signing of poker pro Johnny Lodden, making him the first Norwegian Team PokerStars Pro. The signing tops off a terrific year for the 24-year-old from Jørpeland, highlighted by a 17th-place finish at the EPT Grand Finale in Monte Carlo last April and an 11th place at last fall’s World Series of Poker Main Event in London.
